The world's largest displacement crisis is Sudanese
أكبر أزمة نزوح في العالم سودانية
2026-07-26
Since April 2023, over ten million Sudanese have left their homes. Most did not cross a border. They moved to relatives in Gezira, to camps near Kassala, to overcrowded rooms in Port Sudan and Wad Madani, and then sometimes moved again when fighting followed.
Displacement scrambles every statistic on this site. State populations are snapshots of a country in motion.
Organisations like IOM's Displacement Tracking Matrix publish regular estimates, and they revise them constantly, which is the correct response to a situation that will not hold still.
