Sudan's last census was in 2008. That shadow is long.

آخر تعداد للسودان كان 2008. وظله طويل

Sudan's most recent full census was conducted in 2008, before the south seceded, before the smartphone era, before the current war. Every figure you see today, ours included, is a projection layered on that count.

Projections age like bread, not wine. Fifteen years of assumed growth rates compound, and small errors become big ones. The UN, the World Bank and Sudan's Central Bureau of Statistics all publish slightly different totals for this reason.

A new census requires peace, money and roughly two years of preparation. Until then, honesty about uncertainty is part of the data.
